Always test a small area for allergies. Plain Jane has a mild earthy, yet natural smell. There are no added fragrances, preservatives, additives, this is all natural. 
Yes this product goes bad over time, it has a shelf life of about a year.
But I make fresh batches all the time so you receive the freshest face and body cream available. The skin is the largest organ on your body, it absorbs everything you apply to it and touch. We really have to be thoughtful as to which products we use daily. Plain Jane, Crack'd N Rip'd, and Awesome Sauce (coming soon) are all ideal choices.
